Lester Controls Actions for Full Return to Work
Lester Controls now employs over 100 plus people, and operates from four locations. We design, manufacture and deliver lift and escalator controllers across the UK and into Europe, for regional lift and escalator businesses through to industry-leading global organisations. Over 40,000 Lester Controls controllers are currently in service.
We have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by closing our offices to our staff and working remotely, where possible. We have, however, as detailed in our April COVID-19 Statement, reopened our manufacturing facilities in Croydon and Lutterworth, and continued to provide emergency support for our lift and escalator customers working in hospitals, emergency service sites, vulnerable people homes and medical institutes.
With the Government’s advice earlier with regards to returning to work, Lester Controls is now undertaking steps as to when it would be best to carry out a full return to work for our staff who do not have to travel on public transport to get to work.
Lester Controls’ Actions
Like many businesses, we have been preparing for the managed lifting of the lockdown requirements. This has included undertaking the HSE COVID-19 Risk Assessment for each office and a schedule of work, to ensure our facilities are prepared for our complete return to work which included a thorough deep clean at each location, the application of floor and entrance signages, and adding partitions or barriers to separate work areas where required, to help with social distancing and minimise employee interactions.
We have also created multiple hand sanitiser stations for those entering or working at our offices. We are increasing our cleaning and disinfecting protocols at each office and issuing COVID-19 safe working practices documentation along with additional PPE to all of our team.
To pass HSE’s risk assessment, Lester Controls successfully completed the following:
- Carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and shared the results with all staff
- Put in place cleaning, handwashing and hygiene procedures, in line with guidance
- Taken all reasonable steps to help people work from home
- Taken all reasonable steps to maintain a 2m distance in the workplace
- Where people cannot be 2m apart, have done everything practical to manage transmission risk
